Stopping Counterfeits in China

Practical enforcement tools for foreign rights holders — and where a law firm steps in.

Enforcement in China works best as a layered approach. As a CNIPA-registered agency, we handle the administrative and platform actions directly.

1. Cease & desist letters

A bilingual demand letter is often enough to stop a small infringer. We draft and send it on your behalf.

2. China Customs recordal

Recording your IP with Customs lets them detain infringing goods at the border — a low-cost, high-impact tool. We prepare and file the recordal.

3. E-commerce takedowns

With recordal and evidence, platforms such as Alibaba, Taobao and JD act on complaints and remove counterfeit listings. We manage the complaints.

4. Litigation — via a law firm

Actual lawsuits, evidence notarization and arbitration are conducted by a qualified PRC law firm engaged separately. We coordinate the filings and brief the firm, but do not act as counsel.

How fast is a takedown?

Platform actions can take days to weeks once recordal and evidence are in place.

Do I need a registered right first?

Yes — enforcement is strongest after your trademark or patent is registered in China.
